Support and Services
We know you have to be well-prepared to study in a foreign country. This is why we offer Lexis students the following support and services.
Before You Arrive
Passport & Travel Documents
We advise all students to take photocopies of all travel documents and flight tickets. They are easier to replace if lost or damaged.
London’s Public Transport System
If you’re not familiar with London, get to know your travel options around the city.
Full-time students can save 30 per cent on transport by getting an 18+ Student Oyster photocard.
Visit Transport for London https://tfl.gov.uk/ to see how to travel in London by tube, bus or bike.
You should arrange full insurance cover before arriving in the UK.
UK Bank Account
It might be useful to open a UK bank account. The following banks have branches in Finchley Central: Barclays, Halifax, HSBC, Lloyds TSB & NatWest.
In the UK, we drive on the left so take care crossing the road. Read this information carefully. It is written for children, but useful for adults also: Green Cross Code
Watch what everybody else does and copy them, especially on escalators on the tube during rush hour when it’s very busy.
On Your First Day
We will give you a tour of the school and its facilities and we will familiarise you with the local area. This involves an orientation programme where you will be given important information about life in London and phone numbers you should keep somewhere safe. You will be taken on a short tour of the area and participate in a fun quiz to test your knowledge of London and British life.

Our social activities and afternoon/ evening programmes are a mixture of local North London and Central London activities and excursions. Our students regularly go on weekend trips to other great cities and attractions all over the UK.
You will enjoy London’s & the UK’s diversity, e.g. museums (National History Museum), attractions (London Dungeon), markets (Camden), parks (Hyde Park) plus excursions to beautiful cities such as Bath, Oxford or Cambridge.
